Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has said Nigeria’s president should spend vacation periods within the country, particularly in areas facing serious security challenges.

Obi made the remarks while discussing the need for the nation’s leadership to remain connected to the realities confronting Nigerians.

He specifically mentioned states such as Zamfara and Borno, areas that have faced prolonged security challenges, as places the president could visit instead of travelling to Europe for vacation.

According to Obi, spending time in parts of the country affected by insecurity would give the president an opportunity to directly observe the conditions experienced by residents and demonstrate solidarity with communities dealing with difficult circumstances.

The former presidential candidate argued that Nigeria’s leaders should remain closely connected to the people and the challenges affecting different parts of the country.

His comments have drawn attention amid continuing public discussions about leadership, insecurity and the need for government officials to maintain a visible presence in communities affected by violence.

Obi has previously used public engagements to comment on governance and national development, often calling for greater attention to the welfare and living conditions of Nigerians.
