Nigeria’s newly appointed Ambassador to Austria, Dr. Florence Ajimobi, has formally begun her diplomatic assignment after presenting her Letters of Credence to Austrian President Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen.

The ceremony officially marks the commencement of Ajimobi’s responsibilities as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Austria.

Speaking after the presentation, Ajimobi expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting her with the diplomatic responsibility.

She said she accepted the appointment with a strong sense of responsibility and pledged to represent Nigeria with dignity, commitment and purpose.

The ambassador highlighted the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and Austria, noting that both countries have opportunities to expand their cooperation in several areas.

According to her, trade and investment, innovation, sustainable development and stronger people-to-people connections are among the areas where bilateral relations could be further developed.

Ajimobi said she would work towards identifying fresh opportunities for cooperation that would provide mutual benefits for Nigeria and Austria while deepening the existing friendship between the two countries.

She also reaffirmed her commitment to protecting Nigeria’s interests and promoting the welfare of Nigerians during her tenure in Austria.

The presentation of her credentials formally clears the way for Ajimobi to undertake her diplomatic responsibilities and engage with the Austrian government on matters of mutual interest.

Her assignment is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral ties and advancing Nigeria’s economic and diplomatic interests in Austria.
