Nigerian-American Afrobeats singer Davido is set to return to the Nigerian stage with a three-night concert residency at the newly renovated National Theatre in Lagos in December.

The highly anticipated shows are scheduled to hold from December 17 to 19 and will mark the first Nigerian live performances of his latest album, Oriadé.

Announcing the concerts, Davido expressed his excitement about bringing the project home, noting that the residency would also celebrate 15 years of his music career.

The singer shared the announcement on X, describing the Lagos concerts as a homecoming and confirming that Oriadé: The Residency would take place at the National Theatre across three nights.

Released in July, Oriadé contains 13 tracks and features collaborations with several international and Nigerian artistes, including Black Sherif, Mayorkun, FOLA, Leon Thomas, Aya Nakamura, Llona, NO11, JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay.

During the residency, Davido is expected to perform tracks from the new album as well as some of the songs that have defined his career over the years.

The three-day event is also expected to feature special guest appearances, with different artistes billed to join Davido during the concerts.

The residency comes as preparations build for Nigeria’s annual ‘Detty December’ entertainment season, which attracts major concerts, cultural activities and visitors to the country.

The announcement was accompanied by a promotional trailer and the release of the music video for Davido’s single, On the Road. The video provides glimpses into the singer’s life and includes footage connected to his Coachella debut earlier in the year.

For Davido, the Lagos residency represents more than another concert, as it provides an opportunity to reconnect with his Nigerian audience, celebrate his roots and mark a significant milestone in his musical journey.
