The Charly Boy Foundation has provided free Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) screening for Nigerian Navy personnel and other participants at the Naval Medical Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The health outreach was organised in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Bourdillon Prestige as part of efforts to promote awareness and early detection of prostate-related illnesses among men.

Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy and founder of the foundation, announced the initiative in a video shared on his social media platforms.

According to him, 120 men, comprising naval personnel and civilians, took advantage of the screening exercise.

Charly Boy, a prostate cancer survivor, said his personal experience with the disease had strengthened his resolve to encourage men to take their prostate health seriously and seek medical attention before symptoms become severe.

He stressed that prostate cancer can affect men regardless of their profession, social standing or position, urging men to make routine health checks a priority.

The entertainer also expressed appreciation to Rear Adm. Ibrahim Shehu, Admiral Superintendent and Managing Director of Naval Dockyard Limited, for allowing the foundation to conduct the exercise.

Charly Boy said the foundation was working to expand its awareness campaign nationwide because many men still avoid discussing prostate-related health concerns.

He encouraged men to undergo voluntary screening and seek early medical advice, noting that early detection could improve the chances of timely treatment.

The Charly Boy Foundation is a nonprofit organisation focused on promoting men’s health, with programmes covering prostate health, diabetes and mental well-being.

The foundation relies on donor support to fund health-awareness campaigns, community outreach and treatment-related initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of men across Nigeria.
