SAPELE, DELTA STATE — Sapele Local Government Council has expressed deep sadness over the tragic and mysterious death of three-year-old Master Lemuel, a resident of Uko Road, Sapele.
Earlier today, the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon. Bright Abeke, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Raymond Overah, led a delegation of council officials on a condolence visit to the family of Mr. Bemigho following the death of his young son.
According to the father, on August 10, 2026, the child was playing with other children in the neighbourhood before later going out to buy something for him. The child was reportedly crying and appeared not to be feeling well at the time.
However, after several hours, Master Lemuel did not return home, prompting his worried parents and neighbours to commence a search for him.
When the search efforts proved unsuccessful, the father reported the matter at Gana Police Station. Tragically, the lifeless body of the three-year-old was discovered early the following morning around the vicinity of the family’s residence.
The father further disclosed that the child had multiple stab wounds on various parts of his body.
The heartbreaking incident has thrown the family and residents of the area into deep mourning, with many expressing shock and sadness over the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
Conveying the Council’s condolence message to the bereaved family, Hon. Raymond Overah said the Council Chairman, Hon. Bright Abeke, and the entire Sapele Local Government were deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident.
He expressed profound shock over the situation and urged the family to take heart, assuring them that those responsible for the alleged act would be brought to book and made to face the full wrath of the law.
Hon. Overah disclosed that the Council Chairman had directed the relevant security agencies to swing into action with a view to unraveling the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and identifying those responsible.
He also called on the family and residents of the community to remain vigilant and watchful, urging them to report every suspicious movement, person or activity to the security agencies.
The tragic death of three-year-old Master Lemuel has continued to generate grief and concern among residents, who are calling for a thorough investigation and justice for the deceased child.
