The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has warned members of the public about fraudulent recruitment activities being carried out by individuals falsely claiming to represent the agency.
NAMA said it is currently not conducting any recruitment exercise, urging job seekers to disregard recruitment advertisements, appointment letters and other employment offers that do not come through its authorised channels.
The agency raised the alarm over the circulation of fake recruitment and appointment letters allegedly being issued by fraudsters using NAMA’s name and identity to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians.
According to the agency, the scammers are taking advantage of the desperation of job seekers by promising employment opportunities in exchange for money or personal information.
NAMA cautioned members of the public against dealing with individuals or groups claiming they can secure jobs or appointments within the agency. It stressed that no private person or unauthorised intermediary has been given the mandate to recruit workers or facilitate employment on its behalf.
The agency also advised job seekers not to make payments to anyone claiming that money is required to obtain employment with NAMA.
It further warned Nigerians to avoid sharing sensitive personal information with unverified persons presenting themselves as recruitment agents or representatives of the agency.
NAMA encouraged members of the public to independently verify any recruitment information or appointment letter purportedly issued in its name before taking action.
The agency urged job seekers to rely only on its recognised official communication channels for information concerning employment opportunities.
It also called on anyone who encounters suspected cases of impersonation or recruitment fraud involving the agency to report such incidents to the appropriate authorities.
NAMA said it would not be responsible for losses suffered by individuals who engage with fraudsters or unauthorised persons falsely claiming to represent the agency.
The warning was contained in a statement signed by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr Abdullahi Musa.
NAMA reiterated its commitment to transparency and urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, particularly when dealing with unsolicited job offers and appointment letters circulated through unofficial platforms.
The agency advised job seekers not to allow the search for employment to make them vulnerable to scammers and encouraged them to always confirm the authenticity of recruitment information before making payments or providing personal details.
