Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has added another academic achievement to his football career after graduating from the PFA Business School with a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship, earning a Merit.

The Nigerian forward announced the achievement on social media, describing his graduation as another proud moment away from the football pitch.

Awoniyi said he has always believed that being a professional footballer should not prevent him from pursuing education and continuing to develop his knowledge of the sport.

He also expressed appreciation to the PFA Business School, his lecturers and fellow students, as well as his family and friends for their support throughout his studies.

Awoniyi Combines Football With Education

The qualification adds to a growing list of academic accomplishments achieved by Awoniyi while pursuing his professional football career.

He previously obtained a Diploma in Business Administration and Marketing Management from the London School of International Business in 2020 before completing a Business Management degree at Buckinghamshire New University in 2022.

His latest programme focused on Global Football Sport Directorship, an area connected to the leadership, administration and operational side of professional football.

The qualification could provide additional academic preparation for work within football administration and management beyond his playing career.

New Chapter At Coventry City

Awoniyi’s latest academic milestone comes as he continues his career with Premier League side Coventry City.

The Nigerian striker joined Coventry from Nottingham Forest in August 2026 after spending four seasons with Forest, where he made more than 100 appearances.

His move to Coventry represents a new stage in his playing career, while his continued education demonstrates his interest in developing skills away from the pitch.

The 29-year-old has also remained involved with the Nigerian national team and continues to pursue his football career alongside his academic interests.

For Awoniyi, the latest qualification represents preparation for life beyond playing football while he remains active at the highest level.

Sharing his thoughts after the graduation, the striker summed up his approach with a simple message: “Still playing. Still learning. The journey continues.”
