A yet-to-be-identified woman has died after she reportedly fell from a motorcycle and was run over by a truck along the Agbara-Lusada Expressway in Ogun State.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Saturday near Cashier Bus Stop in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

An eyewitness, identified as Kunle, said the motorcycle carrying the woman was attempting to overtake the truck when she fell onto the road and was subsequently crushed.

The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi.

Akinbiyi said the vehicles involved included a white Howo truck with registration number T-34611LA and two motorcycles whose registration numbers were not displayed.

According to the TRACE spokesperson, preliminary information indicated that an improper overtaking manoeuvre by one of the motorcycle riders led to the passenger falling beneath the truck.

Five people were involved in the crash—three males and two females. Two victims, comprising a man and a woman, sustained injuries in the accident.

The injured victims were reportedly taken to a hospital by a good Samaritan before TRACE officials arrived at the scene.

Akinbiyi added that the deceased woman’s remains were later collected by her relatives, while the truck was taken into police custody as investigations continued.

TRACE personnel and PAPA OSCAR responders were also deployed to the scene, where they helped manage the incident and restore the free movement of vehicles along the expressway.

The incident underscores the risks associated with improper overtaking and other dangerous manoeuvres on busy highways.
