President Bola Tinubu has held a closed-door meeting with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Adeleke arrived at the State House at about 5:25 p.m. on Thursday for the meeting, which marked his first known meeting with President Tinubu since his victory in the recent Osun State governorship election.

The governor arrived at the Presidential Villa dressed in navy blue traditional attire and carrying a walking stick. He was accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

The meeting comes shortly after Tinubu congratulated Adeleke on his re-election and called on him to work towards bringing residents of Osun State together regardless of their political differences.

Other members of Adeleke’s team were also seen at the Presidential Villa. They included the Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; a member of the campaign council, Sunday Bisi; the governor’s Chief of Staff, Akinleye Kazeem; and Bamidele Salam, who represents Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The meeting was held privately, and details of the discussions were not immediately made public as of the time the report was filed.

The meeting has nevertheless attracted attention amid preparations for the 2027 general elections, particularly given the political importance of the relationship between the Federal Government and Osun State.

Tinubu and Adeleke belong to different political camps, making the governor’s visit to the Presidential Villa a notable development in the country’s political landscape.
