I write this to every son and daughter of Uvwie, because what happened in our community was not a random clash. We cannot and should not treat it as one.
Anyone who watched the video closely would see that the attack was orchestrated by NDC whose intentions are to destroy businesses , properties etc. and put the blame on others.
The way they appeared, the manner in which the road was blocked, and the speed with which the accusation against the Delta State Government was pushed out to the public, all point to one thing: The plot was orchestrated by NDC before it was carried out. Uvwie people were the target and Uvwie’s peace was the price.
Let us ask the honest questions.
Can anyone sincerely argue that such a crowd of hired thugs would gather on their own without someone organizing and paying them?
And can anyone explain how, before the dust had settled, before the police could even establish who those men were, the story that the Delta State Government sponsored thugs was already flying everywhere — as if it had been prepared in advance and only waiting for the cameras to roll?
I am not asking anyone to take my word for it. I am asking for what every reasonable person should demand: Let the video be forensically examined. Let those who brought those hoodlums into the Uvwie be identified. Let whoever organized and financed this assault on our peace be made to answer to the law.
This is important because when plots like this succeed, the masterminds walk away untouched, while we the people who live here are left to deal with the consequences, the fear on our streets, the suspicion between neighbours, and the good name of Uvwie dragged across social media timelines nationwide.
Let it be clearly stated: Uvwie people are the victims in this matter. We are not pawns in anybody’s political contest, and we refuse to be used as such. We therefore, call on the NDC to refrain from any act of thuggery and to caution its supporters to embrace peace and lawful conduct.
Uvwie must remain peaceful. Uvwie must remain united.
