China U-20 women’s forward Huang Jiaxin is expecting a difficult encounter when her side takes on Nigeria’s Falconets at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
The two teams are scheduled to meet on Thursday, September 10, in a crucial Group F encounter, with both sides looking to strengthen their chances of reaching the knockout stage.
Jiaxin enters the contest with considerable confidence after producing a standout performance in China’s opening match against New Caledonia.
The forward scored three goals as China cruised to a 5–0 victory over the tournament debutants, while teammates Xiao Yafei and Zhou Xinyi also found the net.
The emphatic result gave China an ideal start to their campaign and highlighted the attacking threat Nigeria will have to contain.
However, the Falconets are expected to provide a much tougher test. Nigeria began their campaign with a 2–0 defeat to former champions Spain and will be eager to respond against the Asian side.
Jiaxin has therefore warned that Thursday’s encounter will be highly competitive, with Nigeria expected to approach the match with greater urgency following their opening-day setback.
China head coach Wang Jun has also acknowledged the quality of the Nigerian team. Following his side’s opening victory, he said China would look to utilise their pace against the Falconets.
The Chinese coach also admitted that his team had to make tactical adjustments during the second half of their opening game, with the changes helping them unlock New Caledonia’s defence.
For Nigeria, the match represents an important opportunity to revive their campaign. The Falconets have a long-standing record in the competition, having qualified for every edition since the tournament began in 2002. They have also finished runners-up twice, in 2010 and 2014.
With China coming off a five-goal victory and Nigeria determined to recover from their defeat to Spain, Thursday’s Group F fixture promises to be a closely watched contest.
The Falconets will need to keep Jiaxin and China’s other attacking players under control while finding a way to improve their attacking output if they are to secure a positive result.
