The family of a 16-year-old boy, Akinbolaji Timileyin, has appealed for financial assistance to enable him to undergo surgery for a right inguinal hernia.

Timileyin reportedly developed severe abdominal and scrotal pain before he was taken to Oromidayo Medicare Centre for medical attention.

A medical examination at the facility indicated that he was suffering from a right inguinal hernia. A subsequent scan conducted at Joy Medical Diagnostic Centre in Ijoko, Ogun State, also identified a compressible mass measuring approximately 98mm by 76mm in the right upper section of the pelvic canal.

The medical report described the finding as suggestive of a right inguinal hernia and recommended medical attention. The scan also indicated that both testes had normal sizes and appearances, with no mass or cyst detected in the right scrotum.

Timileyin’s mother, Akinbolaji Nofisat, said the condition became noticeable after her son’s stomach and private area began to swell.

According to her, the family initially treated his abdominal pain with herbal remedies before seeking medical care when the condition persisted.

She said doctors informed the family that the teenager would require surgery, with the procedure estimated to cost N400,000.

The family has reportedly been able to raise N100,000, leaving a balance of N300,000 needed for the operation.

Nofisat appealed to individuals and organisations willing to assist, saying the outstanding amount was delaying her son’s surgery.

The family is therefore seeking financial support to enable Timileyin to undergo the recommended procedure and receive the medical care required for his condition.
