Nigeria’s top energy officials are set to headline the 2026 Annual Energy Conference of the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC), scheduled to hold in Lagos on October 8.
The conference, themed “Access to Assets: Empowering Players and Driving Growth,” will focus on challenges limiting access to oil and gas assets and measures required to strengthen investment and growth across Nigeria’s energy sector.
The event will take place at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, and is expected to bring together policymakers, regulators, industry executives, financiers and technology leaders from across the oil, gas and power sectors.
Among the officials expected to lead discussions are the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; and the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe.
The conference organisers said discussions would examine ways indigenous energy companies can expand their operations, attract investment and improve their contribution to Nigeria’s energy security and economic development.
Issues expected to feature prominently include frontier exploration opportunities, changing investment patterns, regulatory reforms, production growth, investor confidence and the removal of structural barriers affecting indigenous operators.
Particular attention will be given to improving access to high-value oil and gas assets as International Oil Companies continue to adjust their investment priorities.
Organisers said the conference would also examine measures for improving efficiency, strengthening transparency and removing bottlenecks within the sector as Nigeria seeks to enhance its competitiveness in the global energy market.
Other expected speakers include senior officials from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and other industry bodies.
The conference is also expected to feature representatives from the power sector and other stakeholders, providing a platform for discussions covering oil, gas and electricity.
The organisers said the event would seek practical solutions to some of the structural challenges affecting Nigeria’s energy industry while encouraging greater participation by indigenous companies.
The 2026 conference follows the previous edition, which was themed “Nigeria’s Energy Future: Exploring Opportunities and Addressing Risks for Sustainable Growth.”
