Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has directed political appointees in his administration to intensify efforts to communicate the achievements of the state government to residents at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor gave the directive during a one-day sensitisation seminar organised in Asaba for Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Executive Assistants serving in the state government.

Represented at the event by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Johnson Erijo, Oborevwori said political appointees should present government programmes and projects to the public using accurate statistics, verifiable information and evidence of completed or ongoing projects.

He said the 2027 election period provides an opportunity for discussions around the continuation of development programmes and political stability in the state.

The governor highlighted areas including road construction, urban renewal, healthcare, education, youth empowerment and security as sectors where his administration has recorded activities under its M.O.R.E Agenda.

He also referred to the state’s alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the relationship had opened up additional opportunities for Delta.

The seminar was convened by the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, who urged political appointees to make their communication more practical and understandable.

Aguariavwodo advised them to move beyond simply announcing government policies and instead explain how specific programmes and projects affect residents in different communities.

Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, and political stakeholder Francis Onuora also stressed the importance of adequate preparation among political aides.

They encouraged the participants to familiarise themselves with relevant government data and statistics so they could respond accurately to questions and claims concerning the administration’s record.

The programme featured presentations by Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Arthur Akpowowo; Prof. Akpovughaye Taiga; and Maxwell Idama Omamuyo.

The speakers discussed approaches for strengthening communication and grassroots engagement across the state’s wards as the political activities leading to the 2027 elections continue.

The seminar was attended by senior government officials and political stakeholders, including the Head of Service, Dr Mininim Oseji, and other representatives of the Delta State administration.
