Nigerian passport holders can currently apply for electronic visas, or eVisas, to travel to 54 countries and territories, according to a 2026 global passport assessment.
The destinations span Africa, Asia, Europe, the Caribbean and other regions, giving Nigerians an alternative to the traditional visa application process required by many countries.
An eVisa allows travellers to complete their visa application electronically rather than going through a conventional paper-based process.
54 Destinations Offering eVisas to Nigerians
According to the assessment by travel platform eVisas.io, the destinations offering eVisa access to Nigerian passport holders include:

The list includes popular travel destinations such as the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Singapore, Qatar, Malaysia, Mauritius, Rwanda and Thailand, although visa requirements can vary depending on the purpose and duration of travel.
26 Countries Offer Visa-Free Access
The same assessment indicates that Nigerian passport holders can travel to 26 destinations without obtaining a visa before departure.
In addition, five countries offer visas on arrival, meaning travellers can obtain the relevant entry permit after reaching their destination, subject to the applicable requirements.
For the remaining 125 countries covered by the assessment, Nigerians are required to obtain a traditional visa before travelling.
What Nigerians Should Know About eVisas
Although an eVisa application is completed online, approval is not necessarily automatic.
Travellers should check the current requirements of their intended destination before booking a trip. These may include passport validity, accommodation details, return or onward tickets, proof of funds, travel insurance and other supporting documents.
Visa rules can also change, so travellers should confirm requirements with the relevant immigration authority or embassy before departure.
The growing number of destinations offering eVisa options provides Nigerian travellers with more flexibility and may simplify international travel planning compared with traditional visa procedures.
