The founder of One Love Family and Spiritual Father of the Nation, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has raised concerns over an alleged threat to his life and what he described as the illegal takeover of part of his property in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Maharaj Ji made the allegations during a press conference in Ibadan, where he accused suspected land grabbers of taking possession of a portion of land he said was acquired from the Aladorin family for the establishment of a Centre for Conflict Resolution.

The spiritual leader recalled his 1993 declaration, “No War In Nigeria Come What May,” which he said was made during the political crisis surrounding the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

According to him, the declaration was intended to promote peace, unity and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, values he said remain important amid the country’s current challenges.

Maharaj Ji alleged that part of the land designated as a restricted area and used as an agricultural settlement was sold to a church by individuals he described as land grabbers.

He said he subsequently petitioned the Oyo State Government, leading to the matter being taken before the Oyo State Anti-Land Grabbing Commission.

According to Maharaj Ji, the Aladorin family, whom he identified as the original owners of the property, appeared before the commission and disputed the claims allegedly made by the individuals involved in the land transaction.

He further alleged that despite the unresolved dispute, the disputed area was invaded by the alleged land grabbers, accompanied by security personnel.

Maharaj Ji claimed that some members of his community were assaulted during the incident, with the alleged occupants asserting that they had obtained a Certificate of Occupancy from the state government.

He said the land dispute has since progressed to court.

The spiritual leader also made a serious allegation concerning an unnamed pastor whom he identified only as Pastor David. Maharaj Ji alleged that the pastor had made statements suggesting an intention to harm him.

He further claimed that he was informed about a video allegedly shown at the pastor’s church in which plans to attack him were discussed in connection with a two-week programme tagged the “Wetie Crusade,” scheduled for September 17 to September 30, 2026.

Maharaj Ji expressed concern over the use of the term “Wetie,” noting its association with the political violence and unrest that occurred in Western Nigeria in the 1960s.

He questioned the appropriateness of using the term for a religious programme at a time Nigeria is approaching the 2027 general elections.

The spiritual leader also alleged that the disputed area had experienced changes since the arrival of the occupants, including reported accidents, open cannabis use and the presence of suspected miscreants.

He said such incidents were uncommon in the area during the previous decade.

Maharaj Ji appealed to the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, security agencies, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to intervene in the dispute and prevent any potential breakdown of law and order.

He also called for stronger legislation against land grabbing, including his proposal that land grabbers and their associates should be treated under terrorism-related laws.

Maharaj Ji said he remained committed to maintaining peace and described himself as a law-abiding citizen who did not want developments surrounding the dispute to threaten the peace of his community or Ibadan.

He concluded his address by leading a rendition of the national anthem and offering prayers for Nigeria’s continued unity.

Efforts to obtain a response from the pastor identified in the allegations were unsuccessful as of the time of filing the report.
