Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has said his long-running feud with fellow rapper Odumodublvck began after the pair became involved with the same woman.
Blaqbonez made the claim while speaking on the Nevon Podcast, explaining that he had been involved with the woman in a non-exclusive relationship for about a year and did not know she was also seeing Odumodublvck
According to Blaqbonez, the relationship started in 2023. He said the woman later told him she wanted to end their relationship, but he became suspicious that she was seeing someone else after she continued contacting him.
He said he eventually asked her who she was dating and discovered that she was in a relationship with Odumodublvck.
Blaqbonez said he then decided to step away from the situation.
He also said he had previously been told that Odumodublvck was interested in the woman and had been sending her flowers, but that he did not know the two were actually together while he was seeing her.
How the feud escalated
Blaqbonez said the situation changed after he contacted Odumodublvck to find out whether there was a problem between them.
According to his account, Odumodublvck told him not to greet him whenever they met and accused him of disturbing the woman.
Blaqbonez said Odumodublvck later asked whether he had been intimate with the woman. He said he did not answer because he did not want to interfere with their relationship.
He said the exchange ended with Odumodublvck telling him they were now enemies.
Blaqbonez also said he later asked when Odumodublvck’s relationship with the woman had begun, but claimed he did not receive an answer.
The two rappers subsequently became involved in a public feud that has played out through social media, music and, more recently, legal threats.
Feud later escalated into legal dispute
The latest explanation comes after months of increasingly serious allegations between the two artistes.
In June, Odumodublvck accused Blaqbonez of sexual abuse in posts on X and alleged that people within the Nigerian music industry were shielding him.
Blaqbonez rejected the allegations and, through his lawyers, issued a legal demand to Odumodublvck in July.
The demand, dated July 7, sought a total of ₦2.55 billion, made up of ₦2 billion in general damages, ₦500 million in aggravated damages and ₦50 million in legal costs. His lawyers also demanded the removal of the disputed posts and a public apology. The amount and terms have been independently reported by TheCable and QED.NG.
Odumodublvck rejected the demand and maintained his allegations against Blaqbonez.
Blaqbonez, meanwhile, said during the Nevon Podcast interview that he was taking the matter seriously.
“When you say sexual abuse, that is not a tag that I will joke with,” he said, according to Vanguard. “Now I’m taking him to court. Come to court and prove that I am what you say I am.”
The original cause of the disagreement remains Blaqbonez’s account of events. Odumodublvck has not, in the reports reviewed, publicly confirmed his former relationship with the woman in the same terms or endorsed Blaqbonez’s version of how the feud began.
Neither the sexual-abuse allegations nor the competing claims made during the dispute have been established by a court.
