Let’s call it what it is. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and his camp should stop taking Deltans for a ride.
This is a man whose political rise was not built on service, but on treachery. While patriotic Urhobo leaders with years of sacrifice were toiling for the people, Omo-Age returned from the US in 2003 under a cloud, after a failed professional stint he couldn’t survive abroad.
In 2003 he tested the waters in the PDP primary for Ughelli Federal Constituency and was beaten black and blue. With Desperacy, he ran to Major Al-Mustaphar of Abacha’s dark era to beg his way into Governor James Ibori’s government as an Executive Assistant. But, the moment he got power and money, he bit the same hands that fed him (Ibori and Al-Mustaphar).
He repeated the same script with Chief Great Ogboru whose goodwill and Urhobo votes landed him in the Senate to become Deputy Senate President. And what did he do with it? He cornered contracts meant for his constituents and enriched himself.
Comparing this to what’s happening in the Niger Delta today, Tompolo is using the surveillance contract to put real money in the pockets of Niger Delta youths while Omo-Agege in his greed, engaged a handful of people and paid them peanuts.
This is exactly why the Federal Government deemed him unfit to manage a project meant to bring relief to our people.
His removal and replacement with Honourable Henry Baro a man known for compassion and generosity was not just right. It was long overdue.
Deltans deserve leaders who serve, not betray. Omo-Age’s time of deception is over.
