Tanker Trapped As Flood Collapses Warri/Ughelli/Port Harcourt Road

Email : 42

A fuel tanker belonging to Matrix Energy was left stranded after a section of the Warri/Ughelli/Port Harcourt road collapsed on Monday, September 29, 2026, following heavy flooding.

The collapse completely cut off traffic on the route. As of press time, there is no confirmed report of casualties or fuel spillage.

The incident was captured in a video trending online.

The footage shows the tanker tilted and stuck on broken concrete slabs, with its rear wheels hanging over the collapsed section as floodwater gushes underneath, washing away the asphalt.

The road split into two, creating a deep, fast-flowing channel. Eyewitnesses gathered in large numbers on both sides of the road while other vehicles, including cars and buses, were forced to stop. Some residents were seen wading through the flooded stretch.

An eyewitness at the scene, who spoke in the video, called for “safety first” while describing the location as the last roundabout before a bridge.

The collapse is believed to be linked to the persistent heavy rainfall currently affecting Delta and Rivers States.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
