The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, urging party leaders and members to mobilise support for his re-election in the 2027 general elections.
The party made its position known during the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
The event brought together senior government officials, APC leaders, governors and politicians from other political parties who expressed support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Among those present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo were also among the political figures associated with the campaign council.
Tinubu Says Governance Will Remain His Priority
Addressing members of the council, Tinubu said he would not allow campaign activities to interfere with his presidential responsibilities.
He explained that Nigeria continued to require his attention and that the demands of governance would remain a priority even as the party organised its re-election campaign.
The President also indicated that he would not accompany the campaign team on every nationwide tour, leaving party leaders to coordinate mobilisation across states, local government areas and wards.
Tinubu urged party members to demonstrate commitment by working towards delivering votes in their respective areas, warning against complacency ahead of the election.
He stressed that the party’s efforts would only be fully rewarded when members successfully carried out their responsibilities during the 2027 polls.
APC Highlights Government Reforms and Projects
Speaking at the inauguration, Yilwatda called on campaign council members to communicate the administration’s policies, reforms and infrastructure projects to Nigerians.
He identified investments in roads, electricity, gas, railways, ports, agriculture and digital connectivity as areas the council should explain to the public.
The APC national chairman said the campaign should clarify what the government had completed, what remained in progress and the challenges still requiring attention.
He maintained that the party needed to demonstrate how its policies and investments could translate into practical benefits for Nigerians.
The council’s inauguration is expected to strengthen coordination among party leaders and establish a framework for campaign communication, political mobilisation and monitoring ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The APC is seeking to retain the presidency as political parties prepare for the next general elections.
