The Urhobo Youth Leaders Association (UYLA), Abuja/Diaspora Chapter, has thrown its support behind Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s bid for a second term in office.
The group announced its endorsement after an expanded Executive and General Assembly meeting held in Abuja on August 18, 2026. Members also passed a vote of confidence in the governor’s administration.
In a communiqué signed by UYLA President Kennedy Ejename, General Secretary Jonathan Ibrebru-Idonor and Public Relations Officer Moses Itemire, the association said its decision was based on what it described as the administration’s measurable achievements under the MORE Agenda.
Group highlights infrastructure projects
The Urhobo youth leaders pointed to ongoing infrastructure and urban renewal projects across Delta State as part of the reasons for backing Oborevwori’s re-election.
Among the projects highlighted were developments along the Warri-Effurun axis, including the Warri-Effurun flyover and associated road projects being handled by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.
The association also referenced the N39.3 billion Otovwodo Flyover in Ughelli and the proposed Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor as examples of projects it believes demonstrate the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
Urhobo youths pass vote of confidence
Beyond endorsing Oborevwori for another term, the association expressed confidence in the direction of the Delta State government.
UYLA said its assessment was based on what it described as verifiable evidence of the administration’s performance, particularly in infrastructure and government interventions.
The endorsement adds to a growing list of groups and organisations in Delta State that have publicly backed Oborevwori’s 2027 re-election bid. In June, the Okpe Peoples’ Forum also endorsed the governor, citing developments in infrastructure, healthcare, education and economic empowerment.
Oborevwori seeks another term in 2027
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is expected to seek re-election in the 2027 Delta State governorship election.
Support from ethnic and community groups is likely to remain an important factor as political activities intensify ahead of the election.
The Urhobo youth leaders’ endorsement therefore represents another show of support for the governor as he seeks to consolidate his administration’s programmes and secure a second term.
