The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of governorship candidates expected to contest the 2027 elections in 28 states across Nigeria.

The list, published on October 10, 2026, contains candidates nominated by various political parties, alongside their ages and party affiliations.

The candidates include serving governors, senators and other political figures seeking election to the governorship seats in their respective states.

Among the political parties represented are the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM), alongside several other parties.

According to the published compilation, INEC’s list includes 18 governorship candidates in Delta State and 15 in Niger State.

The publication provides a state-by-state breakdown of the candidates, allowing voters and other stakeholders to identify those listed to contest under different political platforms.

The release of the list marks another stage in preparations for the 2027 general elections, as political parties and candidates continue to position themselves for contests across the states.

The publication also offers voters an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the candidates and the parties they represent ahead of the polls.

INEC’s candidate list is an important reference for the electoral process, although voters should consult the commission’s official publication for confirmation of candidates’ details and any subsequent updates.
