The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has terminated the appointment of one of its staff members for extorting unsuspecting candidates.
The disciplinary action was disclosed in the Board’s bulletin on Monday, September 21, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to eliminate fraud and misconduct from Nigeria’s admission and examination processes.
JAMB stated that its campaign against fraudulent activities was not limited to individuals operating outside the organisation but also extended to its workforce.
The examination body warned its employees against engaging in unethical conduct, particularly activities capable of undermining its integrity or exploiting candidates and members of the public.
According to the Board, staff members found guilty of misconduct would face severe disciplinary measures in line with established rules, regardless of their position or status.
JAMB further stressed that it would not protect employees who abuse their offices or betray the trust placed in them by candidates and members of the public.
The Board maintained that its zero-tolerance policy on corruption applied equally to internal and external misconduct.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to sanitising the admission and examination processes and protecting candidates from fraudulent practices.
The termination of the staff member’s appointment serves as a warning to other employees against actions that could compromise the operations and reputation of the examination body.
