The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to accept or reject the offers on its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
The new deadline is November 30, 2026, giving affected candidates an additional two months to update their admission status.
JAMB had previously fixed September 30, 2026, as the deadline for candidates with outstanding offers from earlier admission exercises to indicate whether they wanted to accept or reject them.
The latest extension followed a temporary disruption of the CAPS platform, which was unavailable for about 96 hours and prevented some candidates from accessing their admission records.
Candidates Urged to Act Before Deadline
JAMB advised all candidates with outstanding admission offers to log into their CAPS profiles and take the necessary action before the new deadline.
Candidates who wish to retain their outstanding offers are expected to accept them, while those who no longer require the offers should reject them.
The Board warned that candidates who fail to accept or reject their outstanding offers by November 30 will have the affected admissions reverted to “Not Admitted” on JAMB’s records.
What Happens After the Deadline?
JAMB stated that November 30 will be the final deadline for the affected candidates. Any subsequent request to alter an admission record after the deadline will attract the applicable penalty fee.
The Board also advised candidates who have moved to another institution or changed their programme to properly resolve any previous outstanding admission on CAPS.
Candidates currently pursuing a different programme or degree may need to accept or reject their previous admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion, where applicable.
JAMB has also clarified that candidates who secured admission during the 2026 admission exercise but still have an earlier outstanding offer can reject the previous offer without affecting their current admission.
The Board urged all affected candidates to use the additional period to review their admission records and complete the required action rather than wait until the deadline.
The extension is intended to give candidates affected by the CAPS disruption sufficient opportunity to resolve their outstanding admission decisions and enable JAMB to maintain accurate admission records.
